A large power outage disrupted parts of Berlin on Saturday after what authorities believe was a suspected arson attack targeting electricity infrastructure.
According to police, a fire broke out at a cable bridge in the southwestern part of the city, damaging several high-voltage power lines. As a result, tens of thousands of households and businesses temporarily lost electricity, with some also experiencing interruptions to heating and communication services.
Emergency services, including police and fire crews, were dispatched to the scene, and repair work began immediately. Officials stated that restoring full power could take several days, depending on the extent of the damage.
The Berlin Police have launched an investigation and are treating the incident as a suspected act of arson. Authorities have not confirmed any suspects and emphasized that the investigation is ongoing.
Residents in affected areas were advised to remain cautious and follow official updates as crews continue repair efforts.
