A major new entertainment project is taking shape in downtown Detroit, as developers move forward with plans for Cosm Detroit, an immersive sports and entertainment venue planned near Campus Martius Park as part of the broader Cadillac Square development.
Scheduled to open in September 2026, Cosm Detroit is designed to offer a technology-driven viewing experience that blends sports, entertainment, and social spaces. Central to the venue will be a 27-meter LED dome, intended to deliver large-scale immersive visuals for live sports, special events, and entertainment programming.
Plans for the venue also include a 70,000-square-foot entertainment space, along with a 34,000-square-foot market hall featuring food and retail offerings. Developers say the combination is meant to create a year-round destination that attracts both residents and visitors to downtown Detroit.
City officials and development leaders view the project as a positive addition to Detroit’s ongoing downtown revitalization. By introducing a new form of immersive entertainment, the venue is expected to support economic activity, create jobs, and increase foot traffic in the surrounding area.
The project reflects a broader trend of cities investing in experiential venues that go beyond traditional sports bars or event spaces. Supporters say Cosm Detroit could become a new gathering place for sports fans while also serving as a flexible venue for cultural and community events.
As construction and planning continue, additional details regarding programming, tenant offerings, and public access are expected to be released. Developers and city officials emphasize that the project aims to complement existing downtown attractions while contributing to Detroit’s evolving urban landscape.
