Detroit police have arrested a suspect in a shooting that seriously injured a 20‑year‑old man on the city’s west side. The incident occurred March 3 near the intersection of Puritan Avenue and Prevost Street.
Investigators say the suspect fired multiple shots into the victim’s vehicle shortly before 1 p.m., striking the driver and leaving him critically injured. At the time of the shooting, three children—ages 10, 1 year, and 7 months—were inside the car. Authorities confirmed that none of the children were physically injured.
After being shot, the victim drove to a nearby business on West McNichols Road, where emergency responders arrived and transported him to a hospital for treatment.
Police initially released images of the suspect while requesting assistance from the public. On March 4, investigators confirmed that a suspect had been taken into custody in connection with the shooting. The investigation remains ongoing.
