A wide range of cultural events across Metro Detroit attracted thousands of residents and visitors over the weekend, highlighting the region’s growing arts and entertainment scene.
One of the biggest draws was the annual Hamtramck Blowout music festival, a multi-day event featuring dozens of bands performing across several venues in the city. The festival showcases Detroit’s diverse independent music scene, bringing together genres ranging from punk and indie rock to hip-hop and experimental music.
In downtown Detroit, the Detroit Opera House hosted performances of the stage adaptation of "The Handmaid’s Tale," while theatergoers also filled seats at the Fisher Theatre for a touring production of "The Outsiders." Meanwhile, the Fox Theatre continued its run of the classic musical "The Sound of Music," drawing audiences from across southeast Michigan.
Large crowds also gathered at Huntington Place for the Ultimate RV Show, where more than 200 recreational vehicles were displayed as part of one of the region’s largest travel and outdoor lifestyle events.
Local tourism officials say the variety of events reflects Detroit’s continuing recovery as a major Midwest destination for arts, entertainment and large conventions.
