Authorities say a mother and daughter were killed when a tornado struck their vehicle near State Highways 60 and 243 west of Fairview. The storm moved through the area late Thursday while severe thunderstorms swept across northern Oklahoma.
Meteorologists warn the same storm system may continue producing dangerous supercell thunderstorms capable of tornadoes, destructive wind gusts above 70 mph, and large hail across parts of the central United States.
Emergency managers are urging residents in risk areas to monitor weather warnings and be prepared for rapidly changing conditions.
