Authorities confirmed that additional Michigan State Police troopers have been deployed along several high‑traffic corridors in Metro Detroit. The operation specifically targets the Southfield Freeway (M‑39) and I‑96, two routes frequently used by commuters and commercial traffic.
The patrol surge is intended to deter speeding, reckless driving, and road‑rage incidents, which have been an increasing concern in the region. Police say troopers will focus on aggressive driving violations and may conduct traffic stops when necessary to enforce safety laws.
Officials also noted that the enforcement presence will include visible patrol units as well as monitoring of key segments where crashes and roadway violence have previously occurred.
