City officials in Detroit say they may pursue legal action against a rehabilitation center on Jefferson Avenue after a temporary boiler installed outside the building continued operating past a shutdown deadline imposed by the city.
Residents living nearby have complained for weeks about constant noise from the boiler, which was installed to provide heat while repairs were underway at the facility. According to local reporting, the city ordered the operator to shut down the unit and issued thousands of dollars in fines, but neighbors say the equipment has remained active.
City officials say continued noncompliance could lead to a lawsuit or additional enforcement actions if the facility fails to meet the city’s requirements.
Residents have expressed frustration about the persistent noise and say they expect the city to ensure that the operator follows municipal orders designed to protect neighborhood quality of life.
