A Project Years In The Making: The Gordie Howe International Bridge Nears Completion
After years of planning, delays, and massive construction, the Gordie Howe International Bridge is finally approaching the finish line.
Named after Detroit Red Wings legend Gordie Howe, the new cable-stayed bridge is designed to become a vital second crossing between Detroit and Windsor, significantly expanding capacity on one of the busiest trade corridors in North America.
While the bridge itself is largely complete, final testing, operational preparations, and coordination between U.S. and Canadian authorities continue before traffic can begin crossing the Detroit River.
